Where is my data stored?

Personally identifiable information and submitted files are stored in our data center in Frankfurt, Germany.

What is your password policy?

Passwords must be between 8 and 128 characters. There are no further restrictions on what users can use for their passwords, any variation you can think of we allow.

What are the levels of permission in Aspen Beta?

There are two available permission levels in Aspen Beta: administrator and user. A user can create new folders and upload new files for similarity checking. An administrator has all the capabilities of a user, but can also add and edit users within their institution, as well as being able to apply and amend user permissions.

Can I use my email address as my username?

When you create your account, you may set your username as your email address.

How often will new features and functionality be added?

We'll be performing bug fixes and minor tweaks on a weekly basis, but new feature and functionality releases will go out monthly. View the release notes for updates.

What are the file requirements for uploading files?

  • Total upload size must not exceed 200 MB
  • Each file must be less than 100 MB
  • Files must have at least 20 words of text
  • The maximum document length is 400 pages
  • .zip files must not exceed 200MB or contain more than 1,000 files
  • Supported file types: Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, WordPerfect, PostScript, PDF, HTML, RTF, OpenOffice(ODT), and plain text

What similarity information is available in Aspen Beta?

The Similarity Report provides access to an indicative similarity score and match overview. The Similarity Report has a high resolution display and the ability to select text.

How can I benefit from the use of folders?

Folders help you to organize your uploaded files. Uploaded files are added to the currently open folder. They can be nested into other folders as many times as you need. You can also move files and folders into other folders and sub-folders as often as required.

Can I leave feedback on the beta?

Your feedback is essential for us to improve the features and functionality on offer. You can access the beta feedback form directly from your home screen at any time, or you can provide your feedback now!

How do I recover a deleted file?

This is not currently possible! At present, you can delete a folder to the trash can and empty the trash can. The recovery option will soon be available in Aspen.

Can I drill down the information in the match overview?

This is not currently possible! You can only view the top level of the match.
