Submitting a Paper

The following information will help you submit your paper to Turnitin through your learning management system or virtual learning environment. Before you proceed, we advise checking that the file you'd like to submit will be accepted. Click here to view all accepted file types and sizes.

 

1. From the Turnitin Assignment Dashboard, click Upload Submission to make a submission to the assignment.

If the Upload Submission button is unavailable, you may be attempting to submit before the start date or after the due date. Click the Summary tab to check your assignment's key dates and any additional settings that may be affecting your submission. 

Paper Upload Submission

 

The upload submission option allows you to submit your paper to the assignment by directly loading the file from your device.

 

1. Enter a Submission Title in the box provided.

 

 

2. You can opt to upload your file in one of two ways:

 

2a. Click Select a file to upload and locate the file on your device.

 

2b. Drag the file you would like to submit into the box.

 

3.  Click Continue to upload the file to Turnitin, allow the file to process, then review it carefully on the next screen. Alternatively, click Cancel to locate a different file.

If resubmissions are not enabled for this assignment, you may not be able to resolve any incorrect submissions.   


 

4. Click Accept Submission & Save to submit the file to Turnitin. Alternatively, click Cancel Submission if you need to make any changes.

 

 

 

5. Once the file is submitted to the assignment, you can use the assignment dashboard to download a copy of the original file or to download the digital receipt.

Text Input Submission

 

The text input submission option allows you to submit text from word processors or file types that Turnitin does not support. You can also use this method to submit specific parts or areas of a document that may need a Similarity Report to be generated.

Only text can be submitted via this method; any graphics, graphs, images, and formatting are lost when pasting text into the submission text box.  

  1. Click the Text Input tab.

 

 

2. Enter a Submission Title in the box provided.

 

3. Type or paste the text of your submission into the Submission Text box.

 

4. Click the Continue button to proceed with the submission,  allow the text to process, then review it carefully on the next screen.

 If resubmissions are not enabled for this assignment, you may not be able to resolve any incorrect submissions.

5. Click Accept Submission & Save to submit the file to Turnitin. Alternatively, click Cancel Submission if you need to make any changes.

 

 

6. Once the file is uploaded to the assignment, you can use the assignment dashboard to download a .txt copy of the text submitted or to download the digital receipt.

Cloud Submission

 

You can upload a file directly from your Google Drive or Dropbox account.

 

1. Click on the Additional Options drop-down menu and select either Google DriveDropbox, or OneDrive.

 

 

2. Locate your file within Google Drive, Dropbox, or OneDrive,  allow the file to process, then review it carefully on the next screen.

3. Click Accept Submission & Save to submit the file to Turnitin. Alternatively, click Cancel Submission if you need to make any changes.

 

 

4. Once the file is submitted to the assignment, you can use the assignment dashboard to download a PDF version of the submission or to download the digital receipt.

Locating Your Digital Receipt

 

After submission, you may download a copy of your digital receipt for your records. Your digital receipt contains the following information:

 

  • Your name
  • Assignment title and submission title
  • File name and file size
  • Page count, word count, and character count
  • Submission date
  • Submission ID

In the Assignment Dashboard

 

 

Select the document icon to download a copy of your digital receipt in PDF format.

 

In Turnitin Feedback Studio

 

1.  Select the down arrow download icon from the Feedback Studio toolbar.

 

 

2. Select Digital Receipt to download a copy of your digital receipt in PDF format.
