Instructors can download an assignment’s submissions one by one or in bulk. Submissions can be downloaded in their original file type or in PDF format, and GradeMark files can be exported as a PDF format. A similarity overview for all students can also be downloaded as an Excel file.
After the download is initiated the downloadable file is located in the Messages Inbox.
To download an individual submission, select the download icon | ![]() |

From the top of the submission inbox you may download a selection of files.
a. To download all submissions in PDF format, select the PDF icon. | ![]() |
b. To download results from all generated student Similarity Reports, select the Excel icon. | ![]() |
c. To download all submissions in their original format, click the blank paper icon. | ![]() |
To download selected papers in their original formats, or GradeMark PDF files, select the files within the submission list by clicking the checkbox next to the relevant submission.

1a. Click the checkbox beside each of the submissions you would like to download.
1b. Alternatively, you can bulk download all submissions by clicking the checkbox to the left of the First Name / Last Name header. This will select all submissions.
2. Click the Download button that appears towards the middle of the submission inbox.

3a. Click Original Files to download the submission(s) in the original format. This will download as a zip file. A notification may appear, indicating that your download is being prepared.
3b. Alternatively download the GradeMark files for an assignment by selecting Selected GradeMark Files. This is a zip file of all selected student submissions, containing all marks and comments that you may have added to the paper. A notification may appear, indicating that your download is being prepared.
Note: The process of compiling GradeMark files can take time, depending on the number of files to be processed. You can close the window at any time, allowing the files to process in the background. Once the files are ready to download, you will receive a message in your Moodle Inbox. Open this message to download your files.
Within the Moodle message, you will find two files: A manifest, containing all a log of files that have been processed for download and any errors that may have occurred, and a download link to a zip file, containing your requested files.
Files can also be downloaded directly from the Document Viewer
1. Click the paper title from the Title column in the Assignment Inbox; this will open the Document Viewer in a new browser
2. Click on the download icon in the Submission Tools section of the product toolbar
3. A box will appear with download options. From here, you can download the current view of a paper (with QuickMarks included), the paper as it was originally submitted to Turnitin, and the digital receipt for the submission.
Note: By clicking Download PDF of the current view for printing when dealing with a media file submission, only the submission information and comments added in GradeMark will appear within the PDF.
When opening a media file submission in the Turnitin Document Viewer, you will immediately be prompted to download the file in its original format. From here, you can provide feedback on the submission in GradeMark using the blank paper provided.
1. Click the title of the paper from the Title column in the Assignment Inbox; this will open the paper in the Document Viewer
2. Click anywhere in the Download submitted file: banner at the top of the Document Viewer to download your student's media submission in its original format. The file will download to your device automatically
