Though they will not be scored or receive Signal Checks on their work, in the Expansion Pack module, students practice their writing on our high-quality, never-before-seen prompts and get to be the first to try out our newly created features. Note: If you haven’t set up your class, see Create a Class first!
Locate the class you’d like to create the assignment for.
Click Create an Assignment under that class title.
This will take you to the Create a New Assignment page.
Under Assignment Type do the following:
Click Continue. This should take you to the list of prompts on our Expansion Pack Library page.
Just like with Signal Check Assignments, use the dropdown filters to search for prompts by grade, genre, and whether the prompt is source-based.
Click the prompt titles on the Expansion Pack Library page to read each prompt on their individual prompt pages.
Also, like Signal Check Assignments, on each prompt page you’ll find the following:
When you find the prompt you’d like to use, click the prompt title on the Expansion Pack Library page.
Click the Create Assignment button.
Add any additional info for your students in the Add Special Instructions box.
If you added any extra instructions, click Save Instructions.
Click Continue to confirm the assignment creation.
Like Signal Check Assignments, in the Expansion Pack module, you will electronically collect/close student work, and view each draft in the student’s writing process in addition to the final draft. Continue reading for the directions on this and more helpful hints about collecting/closing and viewing students' writing.
Note: In the Expansion Pack module, simply close the assignment to stop and collect student work.
Click Student Progress to find...
Click Student Work to find...

Click Student Progress in the sidebar.
This will bring you to the Student Progress page.
To quickly see a student's submission, click on the name of a student who turned in an assignment.
Students who turned in assignments will have a green check in the Turned In column.
To download a student's Current Draft, check the box next to a student's name and click Download Current Draft.
You cannot see Current Drafts for students who have not turned in their work.
