Common Technical Difficulties

Experiencing a problem with Revision Assistant? The following information and list of fixes have helped other instructors and their students.

I Cannot View or Access Revision Assistant Content

Your browser's privacy or security settings can prevent you from accessing Revision Assistant. Make sure your browser is configured to allow websites (or at least revisionassistant.com) to store local data and cookies. Here is how to fix this problem in the most popular browsers.

If You Are Using Safari

  1. Open the Safari menu and click Preferences.RA Help Center- Safari Preferences.png

  2. Click the Privacy tab and make sure Safari does not "Always" block cookies and other website data.

  3. Go to the Security tab. The box to "Enable JavaScript" should be checked. You won't be able to load Revision Assistant at all if it isn’t selected.

  4. After you make these changes, reload revisionassistant.com and try again. If this was the issue, you should be able to log in now.

If You Are Using Firefox

Newer versions of Firefox are configured to automatically enable cookies. However, if you have an older version, follow the below directions to enable cookies.

  1. Open the Firefox “Tools” menu and click on “Options.”

  2. Click on “Privacy” settings tab.

  3. Check the box for “Accept cookies from sites,” if it isn’t checked already.You can also make an exception to your privacy settings to allow Revision Assistant.  If you don't want to change your settings for all websites, you can also make a special exception to your privacy settings. Select the “Exceptions” button, add revisionassistant.com to the list of sites, and click “Allow”.

  4. After you make these changes, reload revisionassistant.com and try again. If this was the issue, you should be able to log in now.

If You Are Using Chrome

For Chrome, you need to edit the Content Settings to enable cookies.

  1. Go to the Chrome settings menu. You can access this by clicking on the menu button in the browser and selecting “Settings”. You can also access your settings by typing chrome://settings into the address bar.RA Help Center - Chrome Settings.png

  2. Click the “Content Settings...” in the “Privacy” section of Settings. RA Help Center - Chrome Content Settings.pngIf you don’t see a “Privacy” section, you may need to click the link labeled “Show advanced settings…”

  3. Make certain that “Allow local data to be set (recommended)” is selected. If you don't want to change your settings for all websites, select the “Manage Exceptions...” button, add revisionassistant.com to list of websites, and select “Allow” in the “Behavior” dropdown.   4. Also check the “Content” menu to see if Chrome is allowing JavaScript to run. Under “Javascript” heading, make certain “Allow all sites to run JavaScript (recommended)” is selected. Select the “Manage Exceptions...” button, add revisionassistant.com to list of websites, and select “Allow” in the “Behavior” dropdown. Click “Done” to save your changes.

  5. Select “Done” to exit the “Content” Menu and save your changes.

  6. After you make these changes, reload revisionassistant.com and try again. If this was the issue, you should be able to log in now.

If You Are Using Internet Explorer

  1. Open Internet Explorer by clicking the “Start” button, and then clicking Internet Explorer.

  2. Click the “Tools” button, and then click Internet Options.

  3. Click the Privacy tab, move the slider to the level of privacy that you want to set, and then click OK.

  4. After you make these changes, reload revisionassistant.com and try again. If this was the issue, you should be able to log in now.

If Your Browser Isn’t Listed
