Prompt 1 

You have read [two or more pieces] about [topic].

 

Analyze how each author presents his or her argument, considering the use of ethos, pathos, and/or logos; style, word choice and tone; and the author’s purpose. Then determine which author presents the most persuasive argument. Use evidence from the articles to support your analysis.

 

 

Prompt 2 

You have read primary and secondary source texts on [historical topic or event].

 

Write an essay in which you integrate the information from these texts into a coherent understanding of [the topic], noting any discrepancies among sources, and evaluate each author’s claims and the strength of the evidence each author provides to support the claims. Your essay should include your opinion as to which author presents the strongest argument on [the topic]. Be sure that your essay includes evidence from the texts that support your position.
