Enabling Turnitin within a third-party app
If you're unable to find the Submit to Turnitin option when attempting to upload from a third-party app, it's likely that you need to enable it.
- Navigate to the share/send copy area of the third-party app from which you are submitting.
- Found to the right of the list of apps that you may share your document to, tap the More (...) icon.
- From the Activities box, tap the Submit to Turnitin toggle, switching it to green, then select Done from the top right-hand corner.
- Tap the Submit to Turnitin icon to proceed with your submission.
Using Turnitin within a third-party app
Once you've navigated through your third-party app and tapped the Submit to Turnitin button, you can start to submit your paper. Follow the guidance below to use Turnitin's share extension.
- Logged out users - To begin your submission, enter your login credentials, then click Log In. This prompt will only appear if you are logged out of the Feedback Studio for iOS app.
- Tap in the Submission Title text area and enter your chosen title. Follow this by selecting the account, class, and assignment in which you would like to submit your paper.
- Please remain patient while your paper submits to Turnitin. If you'd prefer to abort the submission, tap the Cancel button as quickly as possible.
- Once your submission is complete, you will receive confirmation on-screen. Click Close to return to iCloud Drive.
Turnitin fully supports submission from Apple iCloud Drive, Pages, and Keynote via the share extension functionality. However, please note that there are some known prominent apps that are not supported, which include the following:
- Apple Notes (add people area)
- Apple Notes (share area)
- Photos

- Tap the up arrow/box share icon.
- Tap Send a Copy.
- Select the Pages document that you wish to submit.
- When asked to choose a format, select Pages, PDF, Word or ePub.
- Tap Submit to Turnitin.
Submit from a document
- Select the Pages document that you wish to submit.
- Tap the ellipsis ... from the top right-hand corner of the document.
- Tap Send a Copy.
- Select and open a Box document.
- Tap the up arrow/box share icon.
- Tap Open in...
- Tap Submit to Turnitin.
Sharing from the Dropbox app when Submit to Turnitin is available
- Open the Dropbox app on your iOS device. Then select a Dropbox document.
- Tap the ellipsis ... in the top right-hand corner.
- Tap the Export button from the menu. Depending on your iOS version, you may need to tap Share first.
- Tap Submit to Turnitin. This will take you to a submission portal in the Turnitin app.
If you don't see Turnitin as an option, tap More ... on your device to see additional apps. If Turnitin still isn't listed as an option, see the steps in the next section of this guide.
- Enter your Submission Title. Then select your Account, Class, and Assignment Title if those are not auto-selected already.
- Tap Submit.
Sharing from the Dropbox app when Submit to Turnitin is unavailable
- Open the Dropbox app on your iOS device. Then select a Dropbox document.
- Tap the ellipsis ... in the top right-hand corner.
- Tap Open in... (App Store icon).
- Tap Submit to Turnitin.
Turnitin offers the ability to share your paper directly from the following Google apps, allowing you to submit without having to exit the app in which your file is located:
- Google Drive
- Google Docs
- Google Slides
- Google Sheets

- Tap the three vertical dots associated with the document you'd like to upload to Turnitin.
- Tap Send a copy.
- Tap Submit to Turnitin

- Select and open a Google Drive document.
- Tap the three vertical dots from the toolbar menu.

- Tap Submit to Turnitin.

- Tap the three vertical dots associated with the document you'd like to upload to Turnitin.
- Tap Send a copy.
- When asked to choose a format, select PDFor Word (.docx), then tap OK.
- Tap Submit to Turnitin.

- Select and open a Google Drive document.
- Tap the three vertical dots from the toolbar menu.
- Tap Share & export.
- Tap Send a copy .
- When asked to choose a format, select PDFor Word (.docx), then tap OK.
- Tap Submit to Turnitin.
Turnitin offers the ability to share your paper directly from the following Microsoft apps, allowing you to submit without having to exit the app in which your file is located:
- OneDrive
- Microsoft Word
- Microsoft Excel

- Tap the Send File (paperclip) icon.
- Tap Submit to Turnitin.

- Tap Submit to Turnitin.

Possible issues during submission
When using a third-party application to submit to Turnitin, you may notice that the assignment you're attempting to submit to is grayed out. Explained below are the errors you may encounter during submission, what they mean, and how you may be able to fix this issue.
