  1. Locate the lti 1.1 integration by selecting Learning Tool from the Add Assignment dropdown.
  2. In the Regular tools section, you should see your Turnitin LTI 1.1 integration.
  3. Select the three-dot-menu to edit it.
  4. Scroll down and choose LTI 1.3 from LTI version dropdown.
  5. Keeping the browser tab with Jenzabar open, open a new tab and log in to turnitin.com as an administrator.
  6. Locate the turnitin account that is linked to your lti 1.1 integration in Jenzabar and select the account name, then select Integrations.

  14. Copy the clientID from Jenzabar and paste it into the Client ID field in turnitin.com under the LMS details section.
  15. Copy the issuer from Jenzabar and paste it into the issuer field in turnitin.com.
  16. Copy the public keyset URL from Jenzabar and paste it into the Platform public key set URL field in turnitin.com.
  17. Copy the Open ID Connect Endpoint from Jenzabar and paste it into the OpenID connect login endpoint field in turnitin.com.
  18. Copy the Access Token URL from Jenzabar and paste it into the Access Token URL field in turnitin.com.

You don’t need to do anything with the Deployment ID.

  19. Select Save in Turnitin and then Close.
  20. Return to Jenzabar and choose to show the tool within the JICS page.
  21. Under Advanced set up, make sure the boxes next to send first and last name, send email address and send course or elearning Sandbox roles are checked. Then select Save.
  22. Next you need to deploy the integration. From the Coursework screen, select your “upgraded” Turnitin integration which is now found under Deep-linking tools.
  23. You will be prompted to log in to your Turnitin administrator account.
  24. Once you have logged in to Turnitin’s deployment workflow, you will either be provided with a list of existing configurations, or the option to create a new one.

If you are migrating from LTI 1.1 to LTI 1.3, we recommend that you link to the same configuration that you used for the LTI 1.1 integration.

    1. To link to an existing configuration - locate the name of the configuration in the list provided and select the link button. If there is a lock icon in place of the link button, that configuration cannot be used for this deployment.
    2. To create a new deployment - Select the Create New or Create Deployment button dependent on which you have available.
      1. Select the Turnitin account the configuration should be registered to and select Next.
      2. Enter a descriptive name for the deployment as it may be listed for future configurations in your LMS. Select Next.
  25. Confirm the deployment to complete your configuration. If successful, you will be prompted to log out of the deployment workflow and return to your LMS.
  26. Once you’ve converted your Turnitin 1.1 learning tool to be a 1.3 deep linking tool, to make sure assignment imports work with Turnitin, you will need to make a Turnitin importer tool.  Go to Coursework, click add assignment, and choose Learning Tool from the dropdown.

  27. Duplicate this tab in your browser, keeping both tabs open.
  28. In the original tab, find your deeplinking Turnitin tool and click edit.

  29. In the duplicated tab, choose to add a learning tool.

  30. Call this tool “Turnitin Importer”.  Be sure to leave the check boxes next to share this tool with other JICS members or to add this to the list of featured tools highlighted on the activation screen unchecked.

  31. Make sure LTI version is set to LTI 1.3.  Then copy and paste the exact same information from your original Turnitin deep linking tool tab (opened in the other tab) into the following fields in the new tool - url for connecting the tool, initiate login URL, redirection URIs, and tool public keyset URL.  In this case though, do not click the check box to make this a deep linking tool.

  32. Under tool display, choose to show the tool within the JISC page (just like in the original Turnitin deep linking tool).

  33. Under shared information, click the checkbox to send first and last name, email address, and course or eLearning Sandbox roles.  Then choose to save your new tool.

You will now be able to access your past 1.1 assignment submissions and be able to create new 1.3 assignments for your students.
