Manually configuring Turnitin Advantage (LTI 1.3) for Feedback Studio in a Canvas production environment

This guide is for new users of Turnitin. If you already have existing Turnitin integrations in your Canvas environment (such as LTI 1.1 or Plagiarism Framework), please refer to the guidance for existing integrations for assistance.

This guide explains how to enable both the Turnitin assignment workflow and the Canvas assignment workflow through a single integration.

We highly recommend recommend using the global registration pathway to integrate Turnitin Advantage (LTI 1.3) with Canvas. However, some institutions may need to set up the integration manually, such as open-source or self-hosted Canvas users or institutions that need to tightly control placements. If you need assistance deciding if you need to set up Turnitin Advantage manually instead of using global registration, please reach out to your account manager for a discussion.

The Document Processor workflow, which is part of Turnitin Advantage, is not available for open-source or self-hosted Canvas users.

Both the Canvas Admin and the Turnitin Admin are required to fully configure the Turnitin Advantage (LTI 1.3) integration. If these are different people, they should work together to ensure the integration is configured correctly.

If you would like to test Turnitin Advantage (LTI 1.3) in Canvas, use your Canvas beta environment and follow this configuration guide . We do not recommend testing in your Canvas test environment because it does not support all Turnitin Advantage features, including the Document Processor workflow.
