  4. Select the LTI API button to open the configuration page.

Unconfigured integrations will have an unlit status button. A yellow status button indicates a partially configured integration. A green status button indicates a fully configured integration.

  1. Fill out the three required fields:
    • Create a shared key containing 8 alphanumerical characters. It is recommended to contain at least one number and one letter.

The shared key is used during the configuration process in your LMS. You can always return to Turnitin to find your shared key if you happen to forget it.

  1. Your institution’s IP Address or default IP address: 255.255.255.255

  2. An error callback URL or the default URL:

    • If you are in the US: https://www.turnitin.com/api_error.asp

    • If you are in the UK: https://www.turnitinuk.com/api_error.asp

  3. To enable Turnitin to provide your institution with optimal support, enter the name and email address of a technical contact who is responsible for maintaining your integration.
  4. Check the box to agree that you understand that providing any phone number, URL, or test login information is optional but may be requested by Turnitin.
  5. Finalize the configuration by selecting Save.

    • Enter a Tool name for your external app (e.g., Turnitin, Turnitin LTI, etc.)
    • Enter your Consumer Key. This is the three-to-six-digit Turnitin Account ID number included in your Welcome to Turnitin email, and is also located to the left of the Account Name in your Turnitin administrator account.
    • Enter your Shared Secret. This is the Shared Key set by the Turnitin administrator, which is exactly eight alphanumerical characters in length and is case-sensitive.
    • Leave the Privacy setting on the default option Send Name and Email/Username of user who launches the tool. This setting is required to ensure that Schoology and Turnitin users are mapped correctly.

    • Leave the Configuration Type on the default option Manual.

    • For Match By, select URL from the dropdown options.

    • For Domain/URL, enter one of the following URLs for the Turnitin assignment, based on your location:
      • If you are in the US: https://api.turnitin.com/api/lti/1p0/assignment

      • If you are in the UK: https://api.turnitinuk.com/api/lti/1p0/assignment

    • Leave the Custom Parameters field as-is.
  6. When you are finished, select the Submit button.
