This guide for instructors helps access the Writing Report and learn more about how to use the information within the Writing Report.

In this guide:

Accessing the Writing Report

The Writing Report provides an overview of insights collected during the writing process, helping you review student work from the first draft to the final submission.

  1. Once the due date passes, navigate to the submission list.

The Writing Report is generated once the student submits on or after the due date and is not available during the drafting period.

  2. In the Flags column on the submission list, select the Flag icon to view specific flags associated with the submission.
    1. The Flags pop-over displays a list of flags and related findings for the submission.
    2. To explore them in the context of the student’s writing process and access more details, select the View Writing Report link at the bottom of the Flags pop-over.
  3. After selecting a submission to review, Feedback Studio will open to the Writing Report.

Selecting the Similarity or AI Writing scores opens the corresponding report in Feedback Studio.

How should I review the Writing Report?

No tool is more important than the educator who interprets it. Use the Writing Report alongside your understanding of the student, their work, and your institution’s policies to determine whether further conversation is needed.

The Writing Report does not replace your professional judgment—it provides insight to support it.

Because it’s integrated with Turnitin’s Feedback Studio, you can easily navigate between integrity reports for a fuller view of the submission.
