In this guide:

Feedback overview

Launch into your assignment and select the Similarity Score to open your graded submission.

Select the Feedback tab at the top of your screen.

Your instructor’s feedback will appear in multiple areas across your submission. You can find feedback annotated on the submission itself, which will always be located on the left side of the screen:

To the right of the submission is a margin where you can read specific comments your instructor has left you. Selecting one of these margin cards will highlight an area on the submission that the instructor has directed the feedback toward:

On the Feedback side panel to the right, you can find overall feedback on your paper:

On-submission feedback

On your submission itself, you will find different types of marks or annotations that indicate your instructor’s feedback.

Highlighted text

Highlighted text indicates that your instructor has left you feedback pertaining to this text. You can select the highlighted text to highlight a card in the margin with attached feedback.

On-submission feedback may appear in one of three accessible colors. These colors do not inherently imply anything specific, unless your instructor has chosen to use them that way.

Strikethrough text

Your instructor may feel that parts of your submission are not necessary. They may choose to strike out pieces of text to advise you that it could be removed or revised.

Inline comments

Inline comments are brief comments made by an instructor. They are indicated by text directly on the submission.

QuickMark and comment icons

You may find icons on your submission that indicate your instructor has left you feedback. Selecting these icons will open the corresponding feedback in the right margin.

  • A comment bubble icon indicates that your instructor has left you feedback. Select this icon to open a corresponding margin tile for more information.
  • A QuickMark icon indicates your instructor has left you feedback. Select this icon to open a corresponding margin tile for more information.

In-margin feedback

The margin of your submission is where you can find actionable feedback from your instructor.

Select any margin tile to highlight an area of the submission that the feedback applies to.

Feedback with a pin icon indicates that the feedback is prioritized. Pinned feedback can also be viewed in the Summary tab.

Sometimes, one or more pieces of feedback can be related to a criterion on your rubric. This is indicated by a link icon beside the name of a rubric criterion.

Summary tab

Summary content can be viewed by selecting the Summary tab in the Feedback side panel.

The summary comment includes general commentary from your instructor about the overall quality of your paper.

Audio or video summary comment

If your instructor recorded either an audio or video summary comment about your submission, you can watch or listen to it from the Summary area.

Select the play icon to watch the video or listen to the audio. You can use the media controls either side of the play button to skip forwards and backwards on the comment as well as make the video comment full screen using the full screen icon.

You can download your instructor's summary comment using the download button.

Beneath the audio or video comment there will also be a transcript for you to read.

If you do not see an audio or video summary, your instructor may not have added an audio or video summary for this submission. If you see a loading message, wait a moment and try again.

Pinned feedback

Any especially important feedback that has been pinned by your instructor will appear at the bottom of the side panel below the Summary Comment section. You can select the card to see the part of the submission that the feedback applies to.
