Turnitin has a variety of assignments and tools that can be accessed in D2L using the LTI 1.3 integration. This quickstart guide can help you navigate using Turnitin in your D2L environment.
Create a Turnitin assignment in D2L
To create an assignment or access other Turnitin tools:
- Navigate to the course you would like to add Turnitin to.
- Select the Content tab.
- Select your registration from the Add Existing Activities button
- Select the relevant account for this registration using the radio buttons.
A modal will appear allowing you to select an assignment or other Turnitin tools. The assignments available to you will depend on your institution’s license.

Editing a Turnitin assignment in D2L
Some assignment settings can only be edited within the Turnitin assignment, while other assignment settings can only be edited in the D2L course’s assignment list.
Use the reference table to learn more about where each setting should be edited. Any unlisted settings can be edited within the Turnitin assignment settings.

To access the D2L assignment settings, select the dropdown menu beside the assignment and choose Edit Properties in Place.
