This guide for instructors focuses on the Rubric and Report Settings tabs for Student Writing assignments.
In this guide:
All required settings for Student Writing assignments are on the Assignment Details tab. Selections on the rubric and report settings tabs are recommended, but not required.
View Creating a Student Writing assignment for more information.
Rubric
In the Rubric tab, you can create and manage rubrics to grade your assignments. These settings can be configured during assignment creation or later by editing the assignment settings.
When enabled, the AI Assistant can use the attached rubric to guide the feedback it provides to students.
Within the Rubric tab, you can:
- Locate and select an existing rubric from three categories - rubrics you have created (My Rubrics), rubrics shared across your institutional account (Institutional Rubrics), or pre-created rubrics provided by Turnitin (Turnitin Rubrics).
- Import or create a new rubric by selecting Create Rubric. View our rubric creation guidance to learn more.
- Edit existing rubrics by selecting Launch Rubric Manager.
Have existing rubrics that were created in the classic grading experience? Select Import Rubrics in the blue banner to migrate your existing rubrics into the new, enhanced grading experience so that you don’t need to recreate them.
For more information about the different types of rubrics, view: [New] Types of rubrics and grading forms
Report settings
Generate report
Dictate whether Similarity Reports are generated at the time of submission or on the due date:
- Time of submission: Similarity Reports generate after the due date.
- On due date: Similarity Reports for all submissions are generated at the same time on the due date.
For Turnitin Clarity’s Student Writing assignments, the due date and time of submission are the same. Reports will only be generated and available after the due date passes. After report generation is complete, the instructor will be able to view all reports for submitted assignments. Unsubmitted assignments will not generate a report.
For comprehensive guidance that is not Student Writing assignment-specific, view the Report Settings section in the (New) Standard Assignment settings guide.
