Which version of the Standard Assignment are you using?
There are currently two versions of the Standard Assignment.
- New Standard Assignment
- Classic Standard Assignment
It is possible that your institution could be using both versions at the same time, or only enable one at a time. The image below will help you identify which version you are using and point you toward the correct guidance for your workflow.
Assignment details
The assignment details show all information provided to you by your instructor to complete your work, as well as assignment settings and dates related to submitting your assignment.
This area displays the following information:
- Title - The name your instructor has given the assignment
- Instructions - Instructions provided by your instructor
- Template - If your instructor has created a template for the assignment, it will be available for download. The content of the template will be automatically excluded from your similarity score.
- Start date - The date and time you are able to make a submission
- Due date - The date and time submissions will be disabled
- Feedback release date - The date and time any grading or feedback will be shared by your instructor
- Max points - The maximum amount of points possible to achieve
- Rubric - If your instructor has attached a rubric to the assignment, you may select it to view it. Rubrics are used by instructors to grade submissions.
- Late submissions - Late submissions allow for one submission to be made after the due date, if you were unable to submit before the due date. Your instructor sets whether late submissions are allowed or not.
- Resubmissions - Resubmissions allow you to resubmit to your assignment up to three times every 24 hours until the due date. Resubmissions overwrite your previous upload so they will not cause a match in your Similarity Report. Your instructor sets whether resubmissions are allowed or not.
- Unsupported files - File types that are “unsupported” are unable to generate Similarity Reports. Your instructor sets whether unsupported files are allowed or not. Check out our file requirements guidance to learn which file types are supported.
This area displays the following information:
- Instructions - Instructions provided by the instructor for the assignment.
- Start Date - The date the assignment becomes available for submission.
- Due Date - The date the assignment is due.
- Feedback Release Date - The date and time you can view the feedback left by your instructor.
- Max Points - The maximum amount of points possible to achieve for the assignment.
- GradeMark rubric - A link to the rubric or grading form which the instructor will use to grade your assignment. If your instructor has not attached a rubric or grading form to the assignment, this area will be blank.
- Additional Settings - Displays the optional settings for the assignment created by the instructor
Elements of the assignment
Once you have submitted to the assignment, a row of information will appear relating to your submission. Not all columns will populate straight away; some will depend on the assignment settings and dates.
- Title - The name you gave your submission during the upload process.
- Submitted - The date and time you submit to the assignment.
- Grade - Once your instructor has graded your work and the feedback release date has passed, your assigned grade will be shared with you. You can select the grade to open your report.

Depending on the assignment settings, the similarity score will generate after a few minutes, or once the due date has passed. Check out our guidance to learn more about the Similarity Report.
- Feedback - If the feedback release date has passed and your instructor has left feedback comments on your work, a red dot will appear on the comment box icon. Check out our guidance to learn more about reviewing instructor feedback.
