- Go to Administration Workspace and select External tools.
- Select the Install LTI tool button.
- Name tool Turnitin and select continue.
- Select the Use LTI dynamic registration button.
- Enter in dynamic registration url (https://lti.int.turnitin.com/register/1p3) and select Begin configuration.
- You will be prompted to log in and as if you are logging into home.turnitin.com.
- Enter in the login code you received via email and select Submit.
- Choose the correct account from the list and then select Finish. Because this is a new integration, you can use the same Turnitin account that you used for legacy or LTI 1.1 or you can create a new subaccount if you prefer to keep the stats for usage between the integrations separate.
- You may be prompted to name the tool Turnitin if that is not what you called the tool initially. Please agree to this.
- All the fields have been filled out for you. Please note that under Services, there is no need to check the “Allow External Tool read-only access to entire gradebook” box. Scroll to the bottom of the page and select Save.
- The last step is to create an LTI 1.3 assignment to complete the deployment. Go to a course and select on Assignments. Then select Add.
- Scroll down to Submission Type section and choose External Tool (LTI) from the dropdown.
- Select Select External Tool (LTI).
- Select Turnitin from the options.
- You will be prompted to login as if you were logging in to home.turnitin.com again.
- Enter in a new login code provided to your email.
- Select Create New.
- Select the same Turnitin account from the list and select Next.
- Name the deployment then select Next.
- You will need to confirm the deployment.
- You will get an indication of success.
- This only needs to be done once by the Turnitin administrator. Your users will not have to do this.
- Once you have LTI 1.3 installed…
- You should delete the LTI 1.1 integration. If you have Turnitin LTI 1.1 accessed via Lessons, you can run LTI 1.3 and LTI 1.1 at the same time if you feel this is needed. However, you need to communicate with your users about this and provide the timeline for end of support and end of life dates. If you choose this pathway, prior to the end of life date, be sure to delete the LTI 1.1 integration from your Sakai environment.
- You need to disable legacy Turnitin in from sakai properties. Because both the legacy option and LTI 1.3 are accessed via Assignments, we do not recommend running them both at the same time to avoid confusion. In addition, if you don't, users will see a separate checkbox for Turnitin(which will not work after eol date) instead of following the LTI 1.3 workflow which can cause confusion.
- Admins will be able to access past LTI 1.1 and legacy submissions and their associated reports via the Submission Management tool in home.turnitin.com. Instructors will have the option to search LTI 1.1 submissions via the Turnitin Tool Dropdown within Sakai. This tool will be available later this summer.
