- To create new Turnitin Advantage (LTI 1.3) assignments, go to your class, select Assignments, then select Add.
- Scroll down to Submission Type and choose External Tool from the dropdown.
- Select Select External Tool (LTI).
- Under External Tool (LTI) Options, select Select External Tool. Select Turnitin from the list.

You will be prompted to change the name of the assignment, select OK.
- Choose to always display the external Tool launch button so that students have access to their feedback.
- Scroll to the bottom and select Post.
- To launch the assignment again to see submissions, select the assignment name and choose go to external tool.

- If you need to make changes to the assignment after creation, in classic you select the gear sign. Those fields in grey need to be changed on the Sakai side. For classic assignments, if you need to change the point value of the assignment, please do that in both the Sakai and Turnitin side.
While in TFS+, select edit settings. If you need to change the point value of the assignment, that only needs to be done on the Turnitin side. It will update on the sakai side automatically.
Those fields in grey in the new Feedback Studio interface need to be changed on the Sakai side.
- When you have finished grading in Turnitin, be sure to release grades. Go to Assignments and select Grade. Choose the students you want to release the grades to, then choose to release the grades. Please note that if you do not release grades by the feedback release date, grades (and any feedback given so far) will be seen by students if they launch the assignment even if they are not in the Sakai gradebook.
- To copy old assignments and upgrade them to Turnitin Advantage (LTI 1.3) assignments, go to the Tools dropdown, choose Assignment Copy, find your class in the list, and select it.
- Choose an assignment you want copied, then choose to upgrade your past legacy or LTI 1.1 assignment to the new Feedback Studio format or keep it in the classic format if that is your preference. Please note that you can only copy one assignment at a time.
