This guide helps students start a Turnitin Clarity Student Writing assignment and open the Clarity writing space.

In this guide:
Accessing the writing space
To open your assignment, follow the steps for your learning management system (LMS). The process may vary slightly by platform.
Blackboard
- Select the Content tab, then select your assignment name.
- Select Launch to open Turnitin Clarity.
Canvas
- Select the Assignments tab.
- Select your assignment name.
D2L
- Select the Content tab.
- Select your assignment name.
Moodle
- Select your assignment title from the left-hand navigation panel.
Reviewing assignment details
- Review the assignment title and instructions on the left side.
- If the instructions are longer than the preview, select Read more to open a pop-up window with the full text.
- If the instructions are longer than the preview, select Read more to open a pop-up window with the full text.
- Review key dates, including the Start date, Due date, and Feedback release date.
- Start date: When the writing space opens.
- Due date: When your assignment is due. Late work is marked according to your instructor’s policy.
- Feedback release date: When grades and comments become available.

Max points: The total possible score for the assignment.
- If your instructor included a rubric, select its name to view the grading criteria.

Review the section under Max points and the rubric to see whether late submissions or resubmissions are allowed.

Opening the writing space
All writing, editing, and submission for Student Writing assignments take place in the Turnitin Clarity writing space.

- Select Start Writing to open your assignment in Turnitin Clarity.
- Your assignment opens in the Turnitin Clarity writing space.
- In the side panel, use:
