Reviewing Student Writing assignments

This guide for instructors explains how to use the Submission list to identify flagged student writing and open the Writing Report for review.

This Submission list view and features are only available for users with an LTI 1.3 integration or using the Turnitin website.

  1. Access the assignment to view the Submission list.
  2. View the Flags column. If there are any flags based on the student’s writing process, a number appears next to the Flag icon on the student’s row.
    • Flags surface potential integrity concerns within the context of the Writing Report, helping you quickly identify where closer review may be needed. For an introduction to the Writing Report, view Introduction to Turnitin Clarity’s Writing Report.

For all Student Writing assignments, the Flags column only contains Writing Report flags.

  3. Select the Flag icon to see a pop-over with an overview of the flags and findings supporting the flag.

    1. If there are 0 flags in the Writing Report, the pop-over says, “No flags to review”.
    2. However, you can still review important observations about the student’s writing process, including the writing process playback and timeline.
  4. Select the View the Writing Report link to open Feedback Studio, review reports, and provide feedback and a grade.
