[New] Managing QuickMark sets

This feature is relevant to our new grading and feedback experience. If you are using our classic grading and feedback workflow, you can view our classic experience guidance for more information, or learn more about switching to the new experience from our resource center.

In this guide:

Accessing the QuickMark Manager

To access the QuickMark Manager:

  1. Open an existing student submission.
  2. Select the gear icon in the Feedback side panel beside the QuickMark sets dropdown.

By default, the QuickMark Manager will display all of the QuickMark sets that you own. When you expand the My Sets option, you can filter by your Starred or Archived sets.

You can use the left side panel navigation to view Institutional Sets, which are QuickMark sets created or shared by your institution, or Turnitin Sets, which are QuickMark sets created by Turnitin. When you expand any of these sidebar categories, you can also view Starred QuickMark sets belonging to that category.

At the top right of each of the QuickMark Manager, you can use the search bar to find a specific QuickMark set belonging to any category.

Select the title of a QuickMark set to view all of the QuickMarks belonging to it. Here, you can add or remove QuickMarks to the set.

Making a set active

Making a QuickMark set active will make that set appear in the Feedback sidebar when providing feedback on a submission. Only one set can be active at a time.

You can also make a set active by selecting a new set from the dropdown in the Feedback side panel when reviewing a submission.

Starring

Starring a QuickMark set is a way you can mark a set as frequently used. In the left sidebar, after selecting a type of set (e.g., My, Institutional, or Turnitin), you can select Starred to view a filtered view of only your starred QuickMarks.

To star a QuickMark set:

  1. Select the star icon to the left of a QuickMark set. When selected, the star icon will turn yellow.
    1. Alternatively, you can select the options menu to the right of a QuickMark set, and choose the Star option.

To remove a star on a QuickMark set:

  1. Select the yellow star icon again to deselect it. Alternatively, select the options menu to the right of a QuickMark set and select Remove Star.

Renaming

To rename a QuickMark set:

  1. Select the options menu to the right of a QuickMark set, and choose Rename.
  2. Type the new name of your QuickMark set in the modal that appears. Then, select the Save button.

Downloading and importing

Downloading a QuickMark set

To download an existing QuickMark set:

  1. Select the options menu to the right of a rubric, and select the Download option.
  2. Choose the file type you would like to download the QuickMark set as, and select the Download button.

To import a QuickMark set:

  1. Select the Create QuickMark set button from the top right of the Rubric Manager.
  2. Choose Import from File and select the Next button.
  3. Choose Select file to browse for the local file, or drag and drop it into the space provided.

If you’re importing a set that was not previously downloaded from the QuickMark Manager, you can optionally select Download QuickMark Set Template to download a copy of exactly what a file should look like in order to import it properly.

  1. Select the Next button.
  2. Optionally, you can select the pencil icon at the top to rename the set.
  3. Use the options menu beside each QuickMark any necessary edits or changes to the set as needed. You can add new QuickMarks to the set with the Create QuickMark button at the top right. When it looks good, select the Create button.

Adding and removing QuickMarks from a set

QuickMarks belonging to a particular set can be added to additional sets, or removed from the set, by using the instructions below.

Adding a QuickMark to an existing set

This option allows you to add a QuickMark to an existing set without removing it from the set it already exists in.

  1. Select the options menu beside the QuickMark you want to add to a new set. Select + Add to set.
  2. In the modal that appears, use the arrows to expand a set category and then select a set from the list. Select Add to Set.

Removing a QuickMark from a set

This option only appears when a QuickMark has been added to two or more sets.

  1. Select the options menu beside the QuickMark you want to remove from the current set. Select Remove from set.
  2. A modal will appear and ask you to select which sets to remove the QuickMark from. Select the ‘X’ icon beside each set to remove it.

Deleting and restoring QuickMarks and QuickMark sets

Archiving QuickMarks inside of a set

Archiving a QuickMark is similar to hiding it from all of the included sets. You will no longer have access unless you restore it.

  1. From the My Sets view, select the title of the QuickMark set.
  2. Use the checkboxes to select all QuickMarks. Then, choose Archive.
  3. The QuickMark will be removed from all sets, and you will no longer have access to it unless restored. Select the Archive button to continue.

Restoring archived QuickMarks

To restore an archived QuickMark:

  1. Navigate to the QuickMark Manager home screen.
  2. Expand the My Sets option on the left side panel and select Archived.
  3. Select All Archived QuickMarks. The next screen will show you how many sets that QuickMark was included in. To restore, select the Restore button.
  4. Select Restore in the confirmation modal that appears. A notification will appear to confirm the restoration has been completed successfully.

Deleting QuickMark sets

Only empty QuickMark sets can be deleted. To continue with deletion, archive or move all QuickMarks out of the set.

  1. Use the steps above to archive existing QuickMarks and ensure the QuickMark set is empty.
  2. Select the options menu from the top right and select Delete.
