Using QuickMarks allows you to create a library of frequently-used comments that can be reused on multiple occasions, by multiple students, and across multiple classes and assignments.

Adding existing QuickMarks
There are a few different ways to add QuickMarks to a submission.
From the submission
- Select anywhere on the submission, or highlight a section of text you would like to associate with the QuickMark. Then, choose the QuickMark icon from the on-screen menu.
- In the modal that appears, select an existing QuickMark you want to use. For information on creating a new QuickMark, see the Creating new QuickMarks section below.
- After applying the QuickMark, the highlight color of your selected text can be changed by selecting the Options menu and choosing Edit. Select the highlighter icon to change the color.
- After applying the QuickMark, the highlight color of your selected text can be changed by selecting the Options menu and choosing Edit. Select the highlighter icon to change the color.
From the side panel
- Open the Feedback side panel.
If the side panel is not expanded, select the expand arrow at the top right of the submission next to the vertical scroll.
- The currently selected QuickMark set will be displayed here.
- You can browse additional QuickMark sets from the dropdown menu.
- You can also use the search box at the top to find a specific QuickMark.
The search bar provides results for your keyword within the title and the body of the QuickMark, as selected.
- The currently selected QuickMark set will be displayed here.
- To add an already-existing QuickMark to the submission, drag and drop the selected QuickMark to the appropriate location on the submission.
- To leave an additional comment to your QuickMark, select your QuickMark title from the submission, and use the editor to provide an additional comment.
- Then, select the Save button.
A comment that has been added to a QuickMark is indicated by a comment icon above the QuickMark title.
Creating new QuickMarks
- Select anywhere on the submission or highlight the section of text you would like to associate with the QuickMark. Then, select the QuickMark icon from the on-screen menu. From the modal that appears, select the + Create QuickMark button to create a new QuickMark.
- Use the dropdown to select an existing QuickMark set you'd like to add the new QuickMark to.
- Enter a QuickMark title.
- (Optional) Enter a QuickMark description.
- (Optional) Select a color for your QuickMark. You can choose between three different colors: blue, green, and pink.
Pinning QuickMarks
Use the pinned feedback feature to prioritize important feedback for your student. Pinned QuickMarks are indicated by a yellow pushpin icon at the top left of the comment card.
- Select the QuickMark card you want to pin.
- Select the Options menu in the top-right corner, and select the Pin QuickMark option.
- Once selected, a pin will appear next to the QuickMark icon at the top of the card.
- All pinned feedback appears in the margin and is listed under the Summary tab.
- To remove the pin, select the Options menu in the top-right corner, and select the Remove pin option from the menu.
- Removing the pin from the card also removes the comment from the Pinned Feedback section of the Summary tab.
Linking rubric criteria to QuickMarks or comments
QuickMarks can also be linked to specific rubric criteria if a rubric is attached to the assignment. You can find more information in this linked guide, Linking rubric criteria to QuickMarks or comments.
Deleting QuickMarks that have been applied to the submission
These steps guide you through how to delete a QuickMark from a submission. If you would like to delete or archive a QuickMark from your QuickMark set, please view our Managing QuickMark sets guide.
- To delete a QuickMark, select the QuickMark card to expand it and open the editor.
- Select the trash can icon in the bottom left corner of the box.
- Or, you can select the Options menu in the top right corner, and select the Delete option from the menu.
- Or, you can select the Options menu in the top right corner, and select the Delete option from the menu.
- Upon deletion, a green success message will appear in the bottom left corner of the screen. If you change your mind, select Undo from the message to restore your QuickMark.
