The new Standard Assignment is only currently available for Turnitin Feedback Studio licenses using the Turnitin website or an LTI 1.3 integration.
How do I enable the new Standard Assignment?
You can enable the new Standard Assignment for your instructors within your administrator account settings. You will be provided with the option to allow instructors to create assignments using only the new or classic version, or to have both enabled at the same time.
Instructors will retain access to all existing classic assignments if the classic assignment setting is disabled.
What is the Standard Assignment?
The Standard Assignment is included in your Turnitin Feedback Studio or Originality Check license when using Turnitin’s website or LTI 1.3 learning management systems.
Files and documents can be submitted to this assignment by students or their instructor. Similarity Reports can be generated for text-based submissions, and depending on your license type, grading and feedback tools, and AI writing detection are also available.
What is the difference between the classic and new Standard Assignment?
You will have access to the same functionality that you are used to within the new version of the classic Standard Assignment, but with updated workflows and improved accessibility. Check out our instructor guidance to learn more about the features within the new Standard Assignment.
In addition, we are continuing to develop more features for the new version of this assignment, including the introduction of sections and group submissions in future iterations.
The new version of the Standard Assignment is not currently compatible with PeerMark. If PeerMark add-ons are required, we recommend enabling "instructor choice" within the administrator settings to allow instructor access to the classic assignment.
What will instructors see if I enable both versions of the assignment
If "instructor choice" is selected in the administrator settings, instructors will be able to create new and classic Standard Assignments. When selecting to create a new assignment, they will be provided with a modal that allows them to select their assignment type.
- New Standard Assignment - Select the "Try Now" button on the top blue banner.
- Classic Standard Assignment - Select the Standard Assignment tile with the "Classic" label.
What will happen if I change my mind and switch back to Instructor Choice or Classic?
Once you select the New Standard Assignment type for your Turnitin account, we strongly recommend keeping this setting. Changing it later may result in losing access to submissions for assignments that were copied when using the LMS workflow.
