This guide explains how Turnitin account administrators can set up and manage an email domain allow list. Use the allow list to restrict which email domains can be used when adding new administrators to your account.
In this guide:
Set up allowed domains
To restrict which email domains can be used for new administrator accounts, first open the domain allow list.
- From User management, select Set Up Allowed Domains.
- If no domains have been added yet, select Add New Domain.
Follow the steps below to add your first allowed domain.
Add a domain to the allow list
Add approved email domains to control which administrators can be added to your account.
You can add a domain, subdomain, or wildcard domain. Subdomains require separate entries unless you use a wildcard, such as *.example.edu, to include subdomains.
Add a domain to define which users can be added to the account as administrators.
- Select Add New Domain.
- In the Email domain field, enter the domain or subdomain you want to allow.
- To include subdomains, enter a wildcard domain such as *.example.edu.
- Under Apply to, select Administrators.
- Select Add Domain.
- Confirm that the Domain added. message appears.
The domain appears in the Allowed Domains list. The Applied to labels show whether the domain applies to Administrator.
Manage the domain allow list
You can edit or delete domains from the Allowed Domains list.
Edit allowed domains
You can modify the allowed domains at any time.
- From Allowed Domains, select Edit at the top of the list.
- In the domain modal, make your changes.
- Select Save Changes to save your changes.
Delete an allowed domain
Delete a domain when it should no longer be approved for new administrator accounts.
- From Allowed Domains, find the domain you want to remove.
- Select Delete in the domain row.
- In Delete Email Domain, review the domain you are deleting.
- Select Delete Email Domain.
Deleting a domain does not remove existing users with that domain from the account. The allow list only controls which domains can be used when adding new administrators. It does not remove existing users or change their current access.
Delete all allowed domains
To remove all domains from the allow list:
- Select Delete all at the top of the list.
- In the modal that appears, select Delete all to confirm.
