In this guide for administrators, you’ll learn how to export account-wide statistics into a .csv file and download it, including AI Writing data from both classic and new standard assignments.
In this guide:
Once you have set your date range, download your account data by selecting one of the two Export Data buttons.
- Use the Export Data button for:
- New standard assignment (with or without AI writing detection),
- Student Writing (Clarity) assignment
- AI writing detection with the classic assignment
- Use the Export Data (Classic TFS) button for:
- Classic assignment without AI writing detection
- Classic assignment without AI writing detection
Export Data (New Standard and Clarity Assignments)
If you are using the new standard assignment (with or without AI writing detection), Student Writing (Clarity) Assignment, or AI writing detection with the classic assignment, select Export Data.

Select the Export Data button. This will open the data export modal.
If you do not see all of the options, scroll down in the Data Breakdown modal.
- Select the product you would like to export the data from:
- New Standard Assignment - Including Student Writing (Clarity) assignments and, if enabled, AI writing detection
- AI writing detection - Classic assignment only - export contains AI writing detection data only
If you would like to export usage data other than AI writing detection from the classic assignment, close this modal and select the Export Data (Classic TFS) button.
- Select the subject you would like to export data for:
- Account - The account you are viewing
- Class - Every active class during the period specified
- Assignment - Every active assignment during the period specified
- Select the group by date range. This will determine how the data in your .csv file is displayed.
- Quarterly - The data will be shown in one row for every fixed quarterly period (Jan–Mar, Apr–Jun, Jul–Sep, Oct–Dec) within the selected date range
- Monthly - The data will be shown in one row for each month within the selected date range
- Weekly - The data will be shown in one row for each week within the selected date range
- Daily - The data will be shown in one row for each day within the selected date range
- Select Export CSV. The report will begin to download in .csv format.
Do not leave the page while the download is in progress.
Student Writing (Clarity) specific data
These columns appear in all New Standard Assignments data exports. However, they only populate with data when Turnitin Clarity is enabled and student writing assignments have submissions within the selected date range.
Each value represents the number of submissions associated with that feature or flag.
- AI Assistant Enabled
- Grammar Assistant Enabled
- Citation Assistant Enabled
- Low Writing Time Flags
- Low Modification Flags
- Pasted Text Flags
Export Data (Classic TFS)
- Select the Export Data (Classic TFS) button. This will open the data export modal.
- You can choose how the data from the report will be organized. Each option will provide you the data by a different aspect of Turnitin and sorted by month. You are able to organize the data to be shown by:
- Account - The account you are viewing
- Class - Every active class during the period specified
- Master Class - Every active master class during the period specified
- Instructor - Each instructor who is attached to your account
- Integration -Each integration type you have active on your account
- Draft Coach -Each statistic available for Turnitin Draft Coach and similarity check percentage range
If you would like to export AI writing detection data from the classic assignment, close this modal and select the Export Data button.
Select Export CSV. The report will begin to download in .csv format.
