What is the new admin experience?
Turnitin’s new admin experience is a modern, secure, and centralized workspace that simplifies how administrators manage accounts, users, and settings. Built in direct response to customer feedback, it will provide greater flexibility, visibility, and control across your institution or school.
When will the new experience be available?
Beginning January 7, 2026, all administrators using Turnitin Feedback Studio (TFS) or Originality Check (OC) will automatically be upgraded to the new experience.
What’s changing for administrators?
- A refreshed, intuitive user interface
- Streamlined site navigation and simplified management workflows
- A new login experience with multi-factor authentication (MFA) for added security
- Multi-admin support, allowing you to delegate responsibilities
- (Coming soon) Access to an account activity log for improved oversight
Can I preview the new admin experience before January 7?
Yes. You can explore the updated interface and key features through this interactive demo. It’s a quick way to familiarize yourself with the new workflows before the official rollout.
Where will administrators log in?
Administrators will log in at home.turnitin.com. A link will be added to the existing login page to direct you to the new URL. We recommend bookmarking this page for easy access in the future.
Is the login process changing?
Yes. Administrators will now login using email based multi-factor authentication (MFA) for enhanced security. After entering your email and password, you’ll receive a one-time passcode via email to verify your identity before accessing your account.
Each administrator must have a unique accessible email address. Shared email logins will no longer be supported due to MFA requirements.
Can administrators switch to their instructor role in the new experience?
No. In the new admin experience, administrators can no longer switch directly to their instructor role.
If you need to access your instructor account, you must log in through the existing Turnitin site at turnitin.com using the appropriate instructor credentials.
Can I use SSO to log in to the new administrator experience?
No. At this time, Single Sign-On (SSO) is not available for accessing the administrative workflows. Even if your institution has SSO configured, it cannot be used to reach the new administrator experience.
By requiring a direct login with multi-factor authentication at home.turnitin.com, we are adding an extra layer of security specifically for administrative accounts that manage institutional data and permissions.
What happens if I use my institutional SSO link?
If you use your institution's standard SSO login, the system will recognise your user profile but will automatically direct you to the instructor or student experience of the Turnitin website. You will be able to view classes or upload submission, but you will not see the administrative settings or organization management tools.
What if I don’t have access to my admin email anymore?
If you no longer have access to the email linked to your administrator account, you can update it directly in the product before January 7. Alternatively, you can contact Turnitin Support for assistance verifying your identity and restore access. Check out our guidance on how to update your email address.
What if I currently share admin credentials with others?
To protect account security, shared logins are no longer supported. Each admin will need their own user account with an individual email address. Following the release, you can add up to five administrators per account, each with customizable permissions.
Ensure each admin has access to their mailbox to complete MFA login successfully.
Will the number of supported admins increase beyond five?
At launch, the limit is five administrators per account. We’re actively evaluating feedback and may expand this based on customer needs in future releases.
Do I need to do anything to prepare?
Simply ensure your administrator email address is active and accessible so you can complete the MFA login process. Also make sure you have @turnitin.com whitelisted so you can receive critical login information. No setup or configuration is required — all your existing settings and workflows will carry over automatically.
Will this impact instructors or students?
No. This update only applies to administrators. Instructors and students will continue to access and use Turnitin exactly as they do today.
Will I still have access to my old classes, assignments, and data?
Yes. All your historical data, including assignments and submissions, will remain accessible. You’ll continue to manage and review this information through the submission management tool, which is part of the new experience.
Can I use the new admin experience to access the authorship dashboard?
Not yet. Authorship functionality is part of the next development phase. Until then, you’ll continue to access it as you do today.
Are there any changes to other parts of my admin space?
There is a change to the instructor list. You will no longer be able to switch between your different organizational accounts directly in the instructor list. You will instead need to select your organizational account first from the account list.
