Similarity Report issues as of: 3 March 2026
AI download issue based on geographical location
Turnitin license(s): Feedback Studio, Originality Check
We are aware that a user’s geographical location, specifically mainland China, may prevent the download of the AI report. Users of the Classic Standard assignment may also encounter an issue where the score does not appear in the Classic Similarity Report. Our engineering team is aware and actively exploring a solution.
Downloads from the new Similarity Report view may have incorrect characters in non-Latin languages
Turnitin license(s): Feedback Studio, Originality Check
We are investigating an issue when using the new Similarity Report view in non-Latin languages (including Thai) which is causing character display errors for the file name or source names in the downloaded report PDF.
PDF downloads of new Similarity Report view in Arabic may have errors
Turnitin license(s): Feedback Studio, Originality Check
We are investigating an issue that causes formatting errors in the report PDF downloaded while using the new Similarity Report view in Arabic.
Filters may not save while using Translated Matching in the new Similarity Report
Turnitin license(s): Feedback Studio, Originality Check
We are currently investigating an issue causing filters to not apply in the English Report while using Translated Matching.
Flags error occurs on submissions containing fewer than 500 characters
Turnitin license(s): Feedback Studio
Submitted documents must contain at least 500 characters to enable the Flags feature in the classic and new Similarity Report experience. We are investigating a bug that is causing submissions that do not meet the 500-character requirement for generating a Flag report to incorrectly display a Flag icon in the assignment inbox. As a result, attempting to view the Flag report leads to an error message.
Workaround: If an error occurs when attempting to view a Flag report, please verify whether the submission meets the 500-character requirement. If the submission does not meet this threshold, the flag report can be disregarded.
New Similarity Report experience - Small matches assignment setting does not affect new view
Adjustments made to the small match exclusion threshold in the assignment settings are not reflected in the new report for submissions to that assignment
Additionally, the new report experience does not accommodate a percentage threshold for small matches at this time
You can still set a threshold by word count
Note that when switching between the classic and new report experience, changes to filters and settings are saved in the version they are applied and do not transfer between the different versions
Workaround: When small match exclusions are made in assignment settings, or when a percentage threshold is preferred, use the classic report to view submissions to that assignment.
Issues found in our classic workflows may be resolved in the updated version of the feature.
Flags calculation issue
Turnitin license(s): Similarity, SimCheck
We are aware of an incorrect information for Integrity Flag review. Our developers are working on fixing the overall calculation.

PeerMark report navigation arrows may cause page to become stuck on “Loading”
Turnitin license(s): Feedback Studio
When viewing a PeerMark report, selecting the navigation arrows (<>) at the top of the page to move to the previous or next submission may cause the page to become stuck on a “Loading” message. Instead of displaying the selected student’s work, the report may fail to render and remain in a continuous loading state.<>
If this issue occurs, refresh the page and reopen the PeerMark report. You can then navigate directly to the desired submission from the submission list.
Weighted rubrics in classic TFS that have criteria weightings that do not add up to a 100% total are not supported in the new TFS
Turnitin license(s): Feedback Studio
In new TFS rubric criterion weightings must equal 100% for the grade to be correctly applied from the rubric scoring.
The majority of classic rubrics have unequal weightings that total 0%, in essence a qualitative rubric which is a rubric with no scoring. If you have a rubric with unequal weighting in TFS classic, we recommend creating the rubric in the new TFS as a qualitative rubric.
Rubric Manager - Unable to Edit or Add Descriptions on Imported Rubrics
Turnitin license(s): Feedback Studio
In the new version of the Standard Assignment, when attempting to edit or add a description to a rubric that was imported and did not originally contain a description, the description editing fields are unavailable.
Workaround: To ensure description fields are available, create the rubric as new rather than importing a version without a description.

Issues found in our classic workflows may be resolved in the updated version of the feature.
Copying and pasting links and emoji's in Bubble Comments causes text to be cut off
Turnitin license(s): Feedback Studio
We discovered an issue that causes copied text from a bubble comment to be cut off when pasted into a new bubble comment when links and emojis are contained within the copied text.
Workaround: If you want to reuse a comment, rather than copying and pasting, you can convert a bubble comment into a QuickMark by following the steps in our guide here.
Standard Assignment and class issues as of: 15 May 2026
Files sometimes get stuck in processing when students submit to New Standard Assignment
Turnitin license(s): Feedback Studio, Originality Check

New Standard assignments can be extended beyond the class end date
Turnitin license(s): Feedback Studio, Originality Check
Instructors can currently create or extend New Standard assignments with due dates and post dates that go beyond the class end date.
Instructors should not be able to create or extend New Standard assignments beyond the class end date. We are currently investigating this issue.
Geographical location impacting New Standard assignment uploads
Turnitin license(s): Feedback Studio, Originality Check
We are aware of an issue affecting some users’ ability to upload papers to New Standard assignments. This behavior appears to be linked to the user’s geographical location, specifically main land China. Our team is actively investigating this matter to identify the root cause and implement a permanent solution.
Workaround: Uploading papers to Classic Standard assignments does not appear to be affected by this issue.
Issues found in our classic workflows may be resolved in the updated version of the feature.
XLS file may not load
Turnitin license(s): Feedback Studio, Originality Check
We are aware of an intermittent issue when uploading .xls files, containing multiple tabs, to the Classic Standard Assignment only.
Workaround: We recommend converting the document to PDF format or utilising the New Standard Assignment where available.
Classic Standard Assignment - Templates with long file names can't be cleared
Turnitin license(s): Feedback Studio, Originality Check
When adding a template with a long file name to a classic standard assignment it overlaps the ‘clear template’ button and prevents it from being clicked. This means the template cannot be cleared.
Workaround: Click "back" without saving the assignment and rename the template file to be smaller. Then attempt to create the assignment again with the shorter named template. If the assignment is saved with the long file name template, it cannot be removed.
Classic Standard Assignment - Inbox time stamp discrepancy due to daylight savings
Turnitin license(s): Feedback Studio, Originality Check
Submissions made within one hour of a daylight savings time change may show an incorrect timestamp in the assignment inbox. This issue can result in a submission appearing as if it has been submitted an hour earlier or an hour later of its actual submission time.
Workaround: To verify the time at which a particular paper was submitted, open the Similarity Report and select the Submission Information icon. The information displayed will include the correct time and date when the paper was submitted.
Classic Standard Assignment - Feedback Release Date field displayed to accounts where Grading tools are disabled
Turnitin license(s): Feedback Studio, Originality Check
When grading and feedback is disabled for an account, a "Feedback Release Date" field is visible during assignment creation if left as default this will set to the creation date. Within the class homepage, the post date column will display the entered or default feedback release date. This date has no impact on your use of Turnitin and can be disregarded.
We’re looking to address the issue in an updated version of the product, however, we’re unable to provide an ETA for the release.
Classic Standard Assignment - Report generation messaging to students may not match assignment settings
Turnitin license(s): Feedback Studio, Originality Check

Classic Standard Assignment - Unable to download Grade Report for an assignment
Turnitin license(s): Feedback Studio
Instructors are currently unable to download Grade Reports for their assignments if a submission contains an equals symbol (=) in the title.
We are working to implement a resolution as soon as possible.

Active student list requests may time out for large accounts/strong
Turnitin license(s): Feedback Studio, Originality Check
Turnitin Feedback Studio accounts with exceptionally large student enrolments may experience a timeout error when requesting the Active Student List from the Admin Dashboard.
This issue impacts accounts with very large numbers of enrolled students and may prevent the list from downloading successfully. We are currently investigating improvements to support larger account sizes more reliably.
Indexed submissions not surfacing in Submission Management Tool
Turnitin license(s): Feedback Studio, Originality Check
We are aware of an issue where some submissions appearing as matches in reports cannot be located via the Submission Management Tool.
This occurs when a submission is removed from an inbox by an instructor, placing it in a "hidden" state that the management tool cannot currently surface.
Our team is working on a fix to ensure these hidden submissions are visible and searchable.
Workaround: If you urgently need to access a hidden submission, please contact the Technical Support with the Submission ID found in the match report.

Turnitin license(s): Feedback Studio, Originality Check
We have identified an issue where administrators may not receive the weekly email notification for pending deletion requests when those requests are associated with submissions made to the new version of the Standard Assignment. Our development team is currently investigating this problem.
Workaround: In the meantime, you can successfully view and manage all pending deletion requests by logging into your administrator account, navigating to Manage Submissions, then selecting Deletion Requests.
PeerMark assignments can still be created when they are disabled from the account settings
Turnitin license: Feedback Studio
Instructors using the classic version of the Standard Assignment can still create PeerMark assignments when the administrator has disabled them from the account settings. PeerMark is removed as an option during assignment creation, but it can still be selected from the assignment list when using the Turnitin Website.
This issue only affects users of the Turnitin Website. LTI 1.3 integration users are unaffected.
Instructors not appearing in instructor list
Turnitin license: Feedback Studio
For LTI 1.3 integration users, if an instructor is added to an account via creating a new Standard Assignment, those instructors will not appear in the administrator's instructor list on the Turnitin website. New Standard Assignment data is not yet supported in the instructor list.

Grading overlay missing from downloaded reports via submission management tools
Turnitin license(s): Feedback Studio

Users created via integrations can now edit their User Info page

Within the Viewer, some users may notice duplicate comments in their rubric after assigning a bubble comment to criterion and then converting it to a QuickMark
These unintended duplicate comments cannot be deleted.

They should be excluded from the papers available to be distributed
Unresolved: We will not look to address this in the current PeerMark workflow.
(Unresolved) PeerMark assignment information displaying base assignment settings to students
When a student hovers over the (i) icon to view information on their PeerMark assignment, they will be shown all relevant information as well as information from their base assignment.
